Career Opportunities: Part-time Teacher
Appletree Learning Centre is a growing, dynamic organization with locations in Etobicoke and Milton, serving the Halton region, Mississauga and Etobicoke. We specialize in providing specialized tutoring and academic remediation support to a diverse range of learners with learning exceptionalities, including children with identified learning disabilities, those struggling to meet grade-level expectations or need general academic support. Our evidence-based programs, such as SRA Direct Instruction (DI) and JUMP Math, are delivered in a warm and supportive environment. All instruction at Appletree is one-on-one, with in-person and online sessions available.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are a team of passionate educators seeking a dynamic and flexible Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) to join our team for our Etobicoke and Milton locations. We pride ourselves on a workplace culture built on trust and are looking for candidates with a proven track record of reliability, trustworthiness, and dependability. Comprehensive paid training in DI programming and all teaching materials will be provided. Teaching hours are available Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements:
Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT certification required)
Commitment through the 2024-2025 school year
Kind, patient, committed, flexible, and motivated
Reliable and dependable with good attendance
Available to teach a minimum of 2 evenings per week
Comfortable teaching scripted programs that teach skills explicitly and directly
Excellent command of the English language, with strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
Capable of teaching math up to grade 6, including students performing significantly below grade level
A valid Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
Assets:
Special Education qualifications or experience working with students with Learning Disabilities and ADHD
Experience teaching DI reading programs or working with emergent readers
Experience teaching math up to grade 8
Experience teaching paragraph and essay writing to junior/intermediate students
Flexibility to conduct in-person and virtual sessions, and fill scheduling gaps by working in-person or virtually, depending on the team's needs.
