Individualized Education Program (IEP) assessments are crucial for understanding a student’s unique educational needs and developing a tailored educational support plan. Psychologists play a vital role in this process by conducting comprehensive evaluations that include:
Cognitive Assessments: Measuring a students' intellectual abilities and identifies cognitive strengths and weaknesses.
Behavioral Assessments: Evaluating a students' behavior to understand how it impacts their learning and social interactions.
Emotional Assessments: Assessing a students' emotional well-being and identifying academic performance issues.
Developmental Assessments: Understanding a student’s developmental milestones and how they compare to typical age-related expectations.
These evaluations help determine the most effective educational support strategies, including recommending academic remediation support, to ensure that the specific needs of students, including those with learning exceptionalities are addressed.
